Information We Collect
When you create an account, we collect your email address, username, and display name. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google.
Child accounts created by parents require only a username and password — no email address is collected.
We also collect the content you create on IronRod: highlights, comments, and replies to other users' highlights.
How We Use Your Information
- Authentication — to create and secure your account
- Social features — to show your highlights to people who follow you and display your profile to other users
- Content moderation — to keep the platform safe, we use automated moderation to review publicly shared content
- Push notifications — if you opt in on mobile, we store a device token to send you notifications about replies and new followers
- Email — to send password reset emails when you request them
Information We Do Not Collect
We do not use cookies for tracking or advertising. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We do not collect location data, device identifiers, or browsing history.
Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored in a secure PostgreSQL database. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and are never stored in plain text. All connections to IronRod are encrypted with HTTPS.
Children's Privacy
Child accounts are created and managed by a parent. They do not require an email address, do not appear in public user search, and all follow requests must be approved by the parent. Parents can view their child's activity and manage their account at any time.
Your Rights
You can edit or delete your highlights and comments at any time. You can update your profile information from your settings. If you want to delete your account and all associated data, contact us and we will process your request.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be noted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of IronRod after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
